Colonel Bogey

Why don't we whistle the
Colonel Bogey march anymore?
This is our movie moment in
real life: standing in a line at the
store, slowly moving molasses
Might be sped up with a
Catchy Alford tune, oft mistaked
for Sousa
Whi  -  stle
Whi  -  stle   now  Whi  -  hi  -  stle!

Hypoglycemic

If this is your first hypoglycemic event, welcome
We're shaky, we want to vomit, but we're okay
In fact, I did an entire Target run on hypoglycemia and I didn't puke
But I wanted to
Instead I'd visibly swoon
Then rub my upper collarbone
Where the skin tags are
And my sister insisted we leave
But I wouldn't
And I made it
You could too if you gritted your teeth
Can you bear it?

Depression

Laying on my couch
I am so tired
Battling a brain that was marred
by chemotherapy
Scarring away discomfort of this
rheumatic arthritic body
Attacking itself daily, and my
Mind is weary from this convex
Deep down in the mysteries of an
unbridled anxiety only I can feel
Or can you feel it too?
Cutting through as though a
dislodged plate was upheaved
in this quake of trembling terror
Despondent over it all
Drinking it all in as you just go
About your day
Never understanding

I used to bake banana bread
But now I have 2 kids
One's been puking when she coughs
The other's nose is running down his head

You think we gave you away
But we didn't
We fought so hard to
Keep you in your rightful
home
Your family (that's us)
