About Doniell
Doniell was born and raised in the suburbs of Seattle. She attended the Washington State University, and the University of Maryland, University College and holds a B.A. in Humanities, a minor in Music, and a minor in History.
Since she was very young, Doniell loved writing. By the time she was 12, she was writing daily, aspiring to become a great poet and author. Free Verse, Acrostic, and an Simple Rhyme Schemes are a few of her favorite ways to express her world, and her experiences. Picture Books, MG, YA and general fiction are favored though she is no stranger to autobiographical and "how-to" writing.
Some favorite writers and poets are Shel Silverstein, Emily Dickinson, Elisabetta Dami, Philippa Gregory, Jack Kerouac, Charles Bukowski, Roald Dahl, Maya Angelou, Heather Morris, Glenn Beck, Ann M. Martin, Dr. Seuss, Karen Katz, Laura Ingalls Wilder, Leslie Patricelli, Margaret Wise Brown, Mary Pope Osborne, Mercer Mayer, Richard Scarry, and recently Rupi Kaur.
Before becoming a mother and author, long ago, Doniell dreamed of being an archaeologist, a concert pianist, an acclaimed author, and a teacher. She is highly influenced in her writings by her experiences with sexual, emotional, and mental abuse, being bullied, music, her ex-husband's military career, her family, travel, and her medical history among other traditional things like nature and love.
Doniell loves dogs, travel, books of all kinds, board games, crafting, and music. She currently resides in Eastern Washington where she dreams of owning property near a river or lake while running an in-home music studio. She is a disabled medical marvel, neurodivergent, and an ovarian cancer survivor since 2020.
